March 10, 2026. Silfab Solar is releasing the following statement regarding last night’s alarm at the Fort Mill facility:
Last night at the Silfab Solar Fort Mill facility in one of the external buildings, our highly sensitive monitoring equipment activated our internal alarm. Neighbors heard the alarm and called 911 and the Sheriff was dispatched. After inspection, the Sheriff determined there was no concern for public safety. There was no danger to employees or the community.
March 9, 2026. Silfab Solar is releasing the following statement regarding today’s visit and assessment by the EPA and DES:
Silfab Solar appreciates the visit and assessment completed by the EPA and the South Carolina Department of Environmental Services (DES) today. After a thorough review, DES confirmed (i) no indication that assembly operations should remain paused, and (ii) that assembly operations do not involve the use of chemicals regulated under EPA’s Risk Management Program (RMP).
Silfab thanks the EPA, DES and County officials on site today and will continue to work with the authorities as appropriate.
In consultation with TRC Companies, a nationally recognized third-party engineering firm retained by Silfab and participating in today’s assessment, Silfab Solar is bringing module and cell assembly production activities back online beginning at 8 p.m. this evening.

March 6, 2026. 8:00 A.M. In collaboration with state officials, Silfab Solar will continue to pause production operations at its Fort Mill facility through the weekend (March 7-8). During this time, Silfab employees will be on site for non-production related activities while discussions with federal, state and local officials remain ongoing. Silfab looks forward to restarting assembly activities, those consistent with the safe and normal operations it began in October, on Monday at 7:00 pm following U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the South Carolina Department of Environmental Services reviews on site that day.
Silfab remains committed to continuing safe operations at Fort Mill for its employees and the community and welcomes the additional reviews by DES and EPA.

March 5, 2026. 4:30 P.M. Silfab notified employees and community leaders earlier today of the decision to voluntarily pause operations for the remainder of today and for the day shift tomorrow as dialogue and coordination with DES and local officials continues. We will be providing further information by midday March 6th. To be clear, we reiterate and confirm there is no risk to the safety of the community, employees or the environment as stated earlier by the York County Office of Emergency Management.
March 5, 2026. 2:00 P.M. Regarding the letter Silfab Solar received today from the Department of Environmental Services, the Silfab technical response team is addressing the issue in coordination with DES and local officials. The Company has made the decision to voluntarily pause operations today. Silfab confirms that there is no health risk to employees, the community or the environment, and there is no threat to public safety as stated by the York County Office of Emergency Management.
We recognize and appreciate state and local officials’ engagement with this condition and will provide ongoing updates.
March 3, 2026. 8:00 A.M. With no danger to public safety, Silfab Solar can confirm the accidental release of no more than 300 gallons of water diluted to a level of 0.03% potassium hydroxide at our Fort Mill facility today. We notified York County emergency management per protocol, and they responded immediately. The situation is under control. We are working with our local emergency services.
